Sources of Pollution: Boat Dumping

Releases from boats are any pollutants that come from a boat.

How does this land use cause Non-Point Source Pollution?

Releases from boats usually happen when the engine of the boat leaks oil and grease. The oily water collects in the bilge or low part of the boat and is pumped out. Oil and grease sticks to animals and fish and causes a sheen or rainbow on the water. It suffocates insects, which are fish food, and is toxic to the fish, animals, and humans that use the water.
