Educator's Guide to the BTE curriculum | The goal of the Coastal Curriculum Workshops for K-4 Teachers is to educate K-4 teachers using the newly developed Educator's Guide to the Barataria-Terrebonne Estuary and additional materials provided by other state and federal agencies interested in wetland issues. This workshop will focus on the BTE and the priority issues affecting the basins. The proposed workshop will facilitate instruction for teachers, allow easy access to information on environmental issues surrounding the estuary, and also to promote student achievement, engagement, and persistance in school. These newly developed lessons actively engage students in learning about the estuary while emphasizing personal connections and commitment. The ultimate goal of the workshop is to help teachers and students learn about the estuary, while both teachers and students acquire a strong sense of stewardship. Teachers will receive a host of materials including posters, videos and DVDs, lessons aligned with GLEs, maps and interactive educational CDs. |
