Education Program

Rare Plants cover with border

Rare Plants, Animals, and
Natural Communities of the
Louisiana Coastal Zone

The goal of the Rare Plants, Animals, and Natural Communities of the Louisiana Coastal Zone project was to create a manual of species and natural communities of special concern for all of the river basins contained within the coastal zone.  This project was funded by the 2007 BTNEP Mini-Grants Program and created and developed by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, under the direction of Patricia Faulker, Ecologist, in the department's Louisiana Natural Heritage Program.  The entire project is downloadable from this site.  Just click on the picture to the right to go directly to the project.

The BTNEP Education Program website is designed just for teachers and of course for their students!  You will find information on teacher workshops, a complete resource inventory, many curricula and student activities, wetland FAQs, worldwide web links and much much more.

Resource Inventory

BTNEP is focused on educational resources for teachers that can help students understand, appreciate and preserve the Estuary.  We know how important it is that the resources we provide you will provide standards-based educational materials.  We hope that these resources will help in producing an educated citizenry, who will understand and protect the Barataria-Terrebonne Estuary.

 Curricula and Activities

The Educator's Guide to the Barataria-Terrebonne Estuary is finally here and you can download it online!!!  Educator's are going to love this great guide...full of activities for students K through 12th grade!!!
